Holly Veale is a highly experienced barrister specialising in general commercial law, civil litigation, medical negligence, administrative law, commissions of inquiry and inquests, discrimination, employment and work health and safety. With over a decade at the Crown Solicitor’s Office before being called to the Bar in 2017, Holly brings extensive public law expertise and a practical, strategic approach to complex legal matters.
Holly has appeared as counsel assisting and for interested parties in several high-profile Royal Commissions and inquiries, including the ICAC Evaluation of Safework SA, the Child Protection Systems Royal Commission, the Aged Care Royal Commission and the Royal Commission into Violence, Abuse, Neglect, and Exploitation of People with Disabilities. She is recognised for her strong interpersonal skills, specialist knowledge, and approachable style, making her a sought-after advocate in State and Federal jurisdictions. She also accepts briefs for interstate matters.
Holly has been recognised in Doyle's Guide as a leading barrister in the areas of Administrative & Public Law, Commercial Litigation and Dispute Resolution, and Employment and Work Health and Safety.
In addition to her legal practice, Holly is an advocacy trainer with the Australian Bar Association and the Australian Advocacy Institute. Since 2019, she has been a coach for the ABA’s Essential Trial Advocacy Course and has coached internationally in Dubai and Hong Kong. Her commitment to professional development extends to leadership roles, serving as Chairperson of the Board for Connecting Foster and Kinship Carers SA, the peak body for carers in SA, and as a Board Member of the State Theatre Company of South Australia.
